Our New Laundry Room

I use the term “room” loosely in our title. It’s really a laundry closet, but that doesn’t sound as nice, does it?

A couple of years ago, we upgraded our washer and dryer to a front-loading set, complete with a steam dryer (thanks to a Black Friday mix-up at Lowe’s that ended up in our favor). We love how they work, and it made us want to make everything else in that tiny room as pretty as the washer and dryer.

Finally, over the 4th of July weekend, we made our changes: paint, new shelves, a new open cabinet, and a countertop!

Here is our before, filled with a grimy and deteriorating shelf, rusty pole to hang clothes, and lots of sticky old detergent (that was there when we moved in).

Once we removed the washer and dryer, we were left with quite a mess to clean up.

And that shelf. I don’t know if you can see the grossness that is that shelf.Small Laundry Room Makeover Gross Shelf

Tim had to find the studs to do some prep work.

And then we installed the shelves, countertop, and the open cabinet.

Tim was miraculously able to finish this entire project in one day (July 4th). The only issue that we faced were getting the washer back in (we finally had to loosen the countertop to get it back in) and a hole in the wall (the size of Tim’s heel) because of said washer not going back in.

  1. Wow, you’re right, even just painting it made a huge difference. Congrats on getting the whole thing made over so quickly 🙂
