7 Months Old

Oh my heaven, we are seven (months old)! I can’t even believe that we are over half a year into this adventure. We still aren’t sleeping through the night, but it seems like we have made it through sleep regression, the beginning stages of teething, growth spurts galore, developmental changes, and some separation anxiety. We are now working on (perfecting?) sitting up steadily, falling over to our tummies, and crawling. Every single day, Audrey and David show off new superpowers, and it is incredible to see their worlds grow in front of their eyes. I am so lucky to be their mommy!

Things We Love About Audrey:

  • her first tooth is here and came up practically overnight (June 9th)
  • how she can sit up all by herself
  • while sitting up, she likes to fall forward onto her belly
  • she can quickly rotate around on her belly
  • she is starting to push up her tummy from the ground and balance/rock on her knees
  • she can push backwards, but hasn’t quite figured out that by moving backwards she can go anywhere she wants
  • her enormous smile that causes her to squint her eyes and crinkle her nose
  • the “happy hissing” sound she makes
  • the way she talks to all of her “friends” both real and plastic
  • her fascination with and attention towards Toby and Lucy
  • the way she talks and tells all of us stories right before she falls asleep
  • while learning how to sit, she would have her hands constantly out to the side and would do the “Audrey Dance”

Things We Love About David:

  • how fast he has seemingly mastered sitting up on his own
  • when he doesn’t want to sit up, he flings his body backwards into my lap with a huge smile on his face
  • his daredevil attitude and love of being scared
  • how he gives big juicy kisses when you make a kissing sound (holding you cheek and chin and bringing your mouth to his)
  • his one-person game of Peek-a-Boo, where he pulls a blanket or lovey up to his face, makes a guttural sound, and then pulls it away, with a huge smile on his face
  • his sheer happiness sound: a guttural breath drawn in
  • his new “coo”: a back-of-the-throat, gurgling gggg sound
  • his need to be near Mommy or Daddy
  • picking him up still makes it all better
  • his cuddles
  • the way he loves the ocean in our “Hello Ocean, Goodbye Ocean” game
