I have lately been on a kick to incorporate more clean-living items into our lives, such as organic food, chemical-free cleaning products, and a simplified beauty regimen.

My latest “find” is 100% Moroccan argan oil, which I actually hadn’t heard about until I received a bottle to review. I quickly did a search online to find out the uses, and I was amazed to see the versatility of this product.

About Argan Oil

Argan oil is called “liquid gold” and comes from the fruits of the Argan Trees that only grow in southwest Morocco. The oil is extracted by hand from the kernel of the fruit, and it is because of this process that this oil is such a precious commodity.

Many companies are trying to make synthetic or diluted argan oil, so if you purchase it, make sure that the bottle says 100% argan oil or 100% argania spinosa kernel oil. The bottle should also be in a dark-colored glass bottle to help preserve the oil. Additionally, the smell will be mild and nutty, but it is a very pleasant aroma (not overly nutty or offensive to the nose). I can see how some may not like the smell, but I am picky, and it didn’t bother me.

Although the price of argan oil can be expensive, you really don’t need a lot of it to make an impact. A couple drops here and there, and you really will see results (I did after just one day of using it).

Argan oil is a dry oil, and that is one of the wonderful things about it, because you can use it all over your body and it won’t make you feel greasy, unless you use too much of it.

Uses for Argan Oil

I have tried many of these, and I am constantly shocked with how well this really does work. Argan oil will be a constant in my beauty box from here on out!

1. Leave-In Conditioner
After getting out of the shower, put a few drops in your palms and spread it evenly over your hair, focusing on the ends. If you only use a couple of drops, you won’t have an overly oily head of hair, and it is a great, natural conditioner.

2. Face Mask
You can add a few drops to your favorite face mask for an added boost of rejuvenation or brightening. You can also make your own face mask using lemon juice (1 tbsp), Greek yogurt (3 tsp), honey (1 tbsp), argan oil (3 drops).

3. Hydrating Toner
Add the argan oil to you cotton ball  before applying your toner for a bit of hydration to combat the drying nature of the toner. You can also add Rosewater or Orange Blossom Water to it as well.

4. Face Moisturizer
Simply rub 2 drops between your hands and spread evenly over your face. Do not use more than this, as your face will feel greasy.

5. Lip Scrub and Moisturizer
Mix argan oil and brown sugar and scrub over your lips. Then, apply pure argan oil on your lips afterwards to moisturize.

6. Hair-smoothing Shine
After completing your hair style, smooth frizzy parts with 1 drop (or less, if you can do this) of argan oil. Be careful about applying to your roots, as this may make them look greasy. The trick is to rub the oil between your hands first to distribute it evenly.

7. Overnight Hair Treatment
Massage a generous amount of oil into your scalp and hair before going to bed. Wrap your hair, and go to sleep.

8. Cuticle Softener
Rub a small amount of argan oil into your cuticles as needed.

9. Heel Softener
Rub a few drops into your heels (or all of your feet) for a dry hydration. This will NOT make your feet feel greasy, unlike so many foot lotions out there!

10. Body Oil
Use all over your body for a dry hydration.

11. Bath Oil
Apply on your body prior to taking a bath or shower for added hydration.

12. Face Glow
Add a drop or two of argan oil to your foundation, bronzer or tinted moisturizer for a luminous glow.

13. Cooking Oil
Argan oil can be used as a substitute for olive oil. It is also supposedly great as a salad dressing.

14. Dipping Oil
Instead of olive oil, use argan oil and spices to dip bread at your next gathering or happy hour.

Uni 100% Organic Pure Moroccan Argan Oil:

I received a bottle of argan oil from Uni to try, and I was so excited to try this “liquid gold” right away. I put it on my hair before a shower as a pre-shampoo treatment and then before I blow-dried my hair. I can’t tell you how soft and smooth it was! I loved it! I also used it on my dry, pre-pedicure heels, and I was so happy with the light, non-greasy feel that it left. I also put it on my face as a moisturizer and was again surprised by the softness, but not overly-greasy feeling. If you would like to try it, it is currently on sale for $14.99 for a 60 mL bottle and $23.99 for a 120 mL bottle. For the versatility of this product, that is a great price! I can definitely picture taking this on a trip so that I could get rid of some other travel products.
