Review: “Deep Sleep with Andrew Johnson”

Now that I am getting to the end of my pregnancy, I am having a hard time sleeping at night. I am excited and nervous about what is to come ahead. I can’t get comfortable. I am achy. My mind races.

Then, because of winning this promotion to get the MP3 of “Deep Sleep with Andrew Johnson,” I have really been able to turn this around and fall asleep, despite my body’s work to do anything but.

It was incredibly easy to download the MP3 file (through Dropbox) onto my computer. Then, I just hooked up my phone and put it into my iTunes account. The file itself runs 30 minutes, and it has a peaceful tune playing throughout the whole time. Andrew Johnson is a Scottish (I think) man with a soothing voice, slowly telling you to relax this-or-that part of your body. It is incredibly simply, but amazingly effective.

The first time I used it, I couldn’t fall asleep. I was tired, but I just couldn’t get my mind to shut off. I put on the track with an earphone in, and I fell asleep about 10 minutes into it.

The second time I used it, I had awoken in the middle of the night and I was feeling really nauseous. I couldn’t get calmed down or start to feel better, so I put on the track again. Although I didn’t fall asleep right away to it, I was able to control my breathing enough so that the nausea went away. Shortly after the music finally ended, I put away my phone and fell fast asleep until my normal wake-up time.

I’m a believer. This works, and it works well. You have to allow yourself to listen and trust the words, but it works without much effort.

Although I did not use it for the 2-3 weeks as intended by the time I wrote this review (although I do plan on using this quite often), I would agree with each of these points.

Funny story: I was gathering relaxing music together for our lamaze bag, as I wanted yoga-type music to help me relax as I was going through labor. My mom gave me three instrumental tracks that she had in an MP3 format. They were exactly what I was looking for, and I started listening to them. Fast forward to me winning this promotion and listening (and using) this MP3, and lo-and-behold: I recognized that music! My mom actually has been a long-time user of this guide to deep sleep, and she had isolated the music ages ago. She loves this too, so this review comes with 2 highly-positive approvals!
