Let’s Go, Hokies!

It’s time for football season! Here we sit, about to start the first VT football game of the year, and we couldn’t be more excited. We had to be busy all day, just to get to kickoff time. In case some of you don’t quite realize how much we love our Hokies, here are some reminder pictures from our wedding:

That’s right, the Hokie Bird was a guest at our wedding!

Farmington did an amazing job on Tim’s surprise Lane Stadium cake. All edible!

Our homemade cake toppers!

We even managed a bit of pitch-and-catch before the ceremony!

We love our Hokies, and we just found out that we are now (finally) expected to win. We knew it all along…

  1. Hi! How did you make your hokie bird cake topper? I am marrying my fellow Hokie in December and love how cute your topper is!

    • Hi Brielle. First of all, congrats on marrying your Hokie sweetheart next month! How wonderful! For our cake topper, I took two Hokie ornaments, and I removed the eye hook at the tops. I then used some tulle bunched up and glued on for the bride, a tiny row of beads to look like the pearls, and a rhinestone for the ring. For the groom, I used a lego top hat. I’m sure you can find something similar online or even make it out of paper. I then glued them onto a painted wooden base (to match the color of our cake). Basically, glue was our friend! Now here we are, over 4 years later, and our cake topper is sitting in our guest room to welcome our friends and family who come and stay with us. Let me know if you have any other questions! You can see the ornaments that we used here: http://www.amazon.com/Virginia-Hokies-Hokie-Mascot-Ornament/dp/B000Z48ZVM, but you can get them at a few different places too, if you search for “Hokie Bird ornament.” Good luck!
